MM01 Restriction on MRP FIELDS

Anybody who creates a material master has to have authorization and education.

you should not give authorization to people who do not know what they do.

Creating materials by copy is certainly the easiest way to achieve it, it certainly reduces the errors (or missed entries) by a high percentage when people copy from a material that is in use for long time without any problems.

Nevertheless, even with copy method they have to go through each view and need to care about "variable fields", fields that have really individual values for a single material.

Why should a person maintain 50 fields manually if by copy functionality he only need to think about his 14 variable fields  (just numbers, dont ask me which 14 fields I mean)

This person who does not care about the content when creating material master by copy will not care about the content when creating any material master from scratch.

And this person can certainly not understand why he should create one  material in 2 steps, intial step: copy any view but MRP views ; second step create MRP views without copy.

Aren't there fields in the other views that do not need to be changed?

Can you control that he will do it with this 2 step approach in future?

An option in standard could be to make use of MRP profiles. Here you can define extra mandatory fields and defaults . Still the user has to enter the MRP profile name in the organisation pop-up when he starts creating material masters.

use BADI_MATERIAL_REF to default values in material master creation, even blanks could be defaults
